Petro Soininen

Petro Soininen is a seasoned software engineering manager with extensive experience in the technology industry. He currently leads several software engineering teams across Europe at Microsoft Commercial Software Engineering (CSE). Soininen has worked with some of the largest companies and non-profit organizations in the world to tackle their most significant technical challenges. His expertise includes working on cloud and AI problem spaces, bringing ambitious startups to enterprise maturity, releasing open-source assets to help automate Kubernetes cluster operations, revolutionizing how car manufacturers use autonomous vehicles, and collaborating with top cancer researchers.

Soininen holds a Master of Science degree from Tampere University of Technology, and his career includes various leadership roles at Microsoft, Nokia, and Zalando SE. He also founded FINHTML5 and led SC5 as Head of Technology.

At Microsoft CSE, Soininen advises and takes accountability for his teams' customer-facing software engineering work, coaches and empowers engineering managers and tech leads, hires and onboards new team members, and owns and contributes to global initiatives. He keeps fit by engaging in hands-on development and architecture work with his teams and customers. He enjoys mentoring and helping people grow in their careers and exposes them to the biggest stage of the tech world.
