    Peter Veth

    Peter Veth is a prominent figure in Indigenous archaeology and heritage, native title, rock art, and maritime archaeology, with vast experience in Australia, Indonesia, and East Timor.

    He is well-known for his contributions as a co-author of National Heritage Listing and World Heritage Listing reports, focusing on Outstanding Universal Value (OUV). He is actively engaged in two ARC projects related to rock art in northern Australia, including the Kimberley Visions project and the Dating Kimberley Rock Art project.

    Peter Veth holds the prestigious title of Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities, awarded in 2005. In 2021, he assumed the role of Discipline Lead of Archaeology at the University of Western Australia.

    His educational background includes a PhD in Archaeology, a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Archaeology with Honors, a Certificate IV in Occupational Dive Supervision from The Dive Bell, and high school studies in music at Perth Modern School.

    Throughout his career, Peter Veth has been affiliated with various esteemed organizations. He currently serves as a Professor at the University of Western Australia. Previously, he held roles as a Research Associate at the Western Australian Museum, Director at UWA Oceans Institute, Professor of Archaeology and Kimberley Foundation Ian Potter Chair in Rock Art at The University of Western Australia, Associate Professor at James Cook University, and various positions at the Australian National University.
