Starred is a fast-growing Dutch SaaS startup providing feedback software to help clients improve their People Experience, including candidate experience and employee engagement.

As part of the management team, I act as business controller. Key responsibilities include:
• Operational and financial business planning and control and continuous monitoring of progress through a range of metrics and reports,
• Design, implement, and manage management information systems and backoffice systems, 
• Cashflow management and forecasting, including implementing effective payroll-, accounts payable and accounts receivable practices,
• Debt-financing (IBSK) and informal equity fundraising for various rounds totaling over €2m,
• Management accounting and financial reporting for both the Dutch and UK entity.

Head of Finance & Analytics

Supporting the planning & control cycle of TUI Travel’s mainstream purchasing division. Key activities included pre-purchasing planning, including capacity- and cost forecasts, continuous cost reporting throughout the first purchasing cycle, and building business cases for investments >£1m to be approved by the divisional management team. 
 
As part of my responsibilities, I managed the UK&I Purchasing Data team, the business intelligence team responsible for reporting and analysis of the purchasing process for 3 source markets and a cost base of ~€2.5bn.

TUI Travel PLC

Commercial Finance Manager

Supporting the implementation of TUIs One Mainstream strategy, bundling the product management and purchasing activities of its 9 key source markets.
 
Product ownership role in selecting and developing a planning- and reporting solution that leverages Big Data tools and technologies, such as Hadoop, Hive, Impala and Platfora. Key liaison between data owners, the system's customers, and lead the agile virtual team of on- and off-shore developers. It was my ultimate responsibility to ensuring that the solution enabled the required combination of regular reporting and ad-hoc quantitative analytics.
 
In addition, I project managed the Mainstream Late Buying workstream, responsible for delivering a shared approach to contract renegotiations for all 9 source markets.

Commercial Support Manager

Launched a new school travel brand in the Benelux market, focused on educational trips and school ski trips in partnership with TUI subsidiary TravelBound.

Key to the brand's initial success was a focused range of unique products of educational trips to a château near the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy, France. In first full year after the launch, the business realised initial traction of >€100k. 

Exit after two years as the operation didn't break-even and market conditions remained unfavourable, with partner TravelBound taking over full control.

18-month management development programme, in which I led 6 different projects throughout TUIs businesses in the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Spain, and Canada.

As the projects were all very different in background, complexity and objective, I consistently drew upon my analytical capability in order to effectively deliver value to the business in a short amount of time. I've grown accustomed to quickly picking new projects up, and am very comfortable working in a new cultural context.

After leaving the programme, I've been very involved in shaping the development of the programme and the graduates by serving as assessor during the recruitment process, and as a mentor of several graduates.
