    Peter Illsley is a seasoned mechanical systems engineer with a stellar track record in designing and building spaceflight hardware for cutting-edge missions. He played pivotal roles in the successful creation, launch, and landing of the Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity Rovers on Mars. Peter's expertise extends to working on the advanced composites team for the X-32 Joint Strike Fighter and flying scientific payloads on the space shuttle Discovery's STS-85 mission.

    With a focus on innovation and pushing boundaries, Peter Illsley recently held the position of Director for Mechanical and Thermal Engineering at Planetary Resources, where he contributed to the design and launch of spacecraft aimed at prospecting water and mineral resources in space. His entire engineering career has been dedicated to achieving groundbreaking feats in the field.

    Beyond his professional endeavors, Peter enjoys making Rhone-style wines in California and Washington, as well as exploring his passion for BBQ creation, cooking, and inventing hot sauces.

    Peter pursued his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

    Throughout his career, Peter Illsley has held key roles in renowned organizations, including being a Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer at First Mode, the Director Of Mechanical and Thermal Engineering at Planetary Resources, a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and a Mechanical Design Engineer at Boeing.
