Peter Groothuis

Peter Groothuis is the Innovation Programme Manager for Portfolio, Intellectual Property, and Financial Sustainability at EIT Food, a division of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). His LinkedIn username is peter-groothuis-01.25

As an innovation engineer, Groothuis approaches innovation rationally and methodically, using mathematical models to solve problems and enable the valorization of novel technologies.2 He has a deep passion for bridging the gap between technology and business.

At EIT Food, Groothuis manages the IP Garden, a dedicated Intellectual Property and Knowledge Sharing program that supports the implementation of cutting-edge innovations in the food industry.1 He also oversees consortium-based funding opportunities, such as the Impact Funding Framework, which aims to promote ambitious, long-term collaboration for food systems change.13

Groothuis actively supports networking and matchmaking by organizing or co-hosting events.1 He recently presented on "Unleashing the Power of Open Innovation in the Food Sector" at the AgriFood Innovation Event.4

Prior to his role at EIT, Groothuis worked as a Professor of Sports Economics, Environmental Economics, and Applied Microeconomics at Appalachian State University.6
