Peter Burka

Peter Burka is a highly experienced software developer with a background in computer science. He has made significant contributions to various components of the J9 Java Virtual Machine during his time at IBM, covering areas such as threading, garbage collection, bytecode interpretation, JIT compilation, and RAS capabilities. Peter possesses extensive development and debugging skills across multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, AIX, z/OS, and PalmOS.

His specialties include garbage collection, bytecode interpreters, and parallel programming, with expertise in areas such as NUMA, SIMD, J2ME, J2SE, DTFJ, J2EE, and Eclipse. Peter is proficient in a wide range of programming languages including C, Smalltalk, Java, C++, Objective C, OpenCL, OpenMP, and various assembly languages such as x86, x86-64, Intel Phi, PowerPC, zSeries, ARM, 68K, MIPS, SH-4, and Alpha. He has also been involved in JSR 202 as an Expert at IBM Canada. Additionally, Peter has prior experience as a Co-owner at Oleander for Home and Intern Software Developer at Object Technology International.
