    Penny Lazarus, a seasoned pianist with over 30 years of experience in performing and teaching, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She honed her skills under the tutelage of renowned teachers, including Master teacher Natalie Phillips at the University of Pittsburgh and pianist Eunice Norton, a student of Artur Schnabel.

    Apart from her piano expertise, Penny has a rich educational background, having studied Music, Psychology, Teaching Certification, Art History, and Philosophy of Arts at the University of Pittsburgh. She has also delved into classroom teaching, with eight years of experience in middle school and a stint as an assistant professor at the University level.

    In 1989, Penny established the Jackson Street Piano Studio in Pittsburgh, where she imparted piano performance, music theory, history, and composition to school-age students. Later, she relocated to Massachusetts's North Shore and continues to teach piano, while also contributing to the Newburyport Public School system by creating educational gardens and teaching horticulture and environmental studies.

    Beyond her musical endeavors, Penny is a multifaceted individual who studies voice with Martha Peabody, Theater with Marc Clopton and Kathleen Henderson, and engages in performances in Music Theater, with the Newburyport Choral Society, and in solo recitals. Her interests also extend to business development for non-profit arts and educational organizations.

    Penny's professional journey includes roles such as a University trained and certified private piano teacher, former music teacher, sessional lecturer, contributing writer, singer, section leader, and development director. She has made significant contributions to various organizations like the Penny Lazarus Piano Studio, Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, Clavier Companion/Keyboard Companion, and the Newburyport Choral Society.
