Penny Laurenson brings a wealth of expertise in environmental planning and sustainability to her role as Director of Environmental Planning and Sustainability, Europe & International at Lightsource BP. With a background in regional and resource planning, as well as UK planning law and practice, Laurenson manages Lightsource BP's environmental planning strategies across EMEA, APAC & South America. Her experience also includes permitting, Environmental Impact Assessment, stakeholder engagement and compliance. Laurenson earned a Distinction in her Masters in Regional and Resource Planning from the University of Otago and a Distinction in her PGCert in UK Planning Law and Practice from Leeds Metropolitan University. She also holds a First equivalent (85%) in her BA, with majors in Geography and Psychology, from the University of Otago. Prior to joining Lightsource BP, Laurenson worked at various organisations including the Environmental Protection Authority, Ministry for the Environment, MWH New Zealand Ltd, and NZ Historic Places Trust as a consultant and planner.
