Paul Uppal is a prominent figure with a rich background encompassing two decades of experience in the construction business.
In 2010, he made history by becoming the first Sikh Conservative Member of Parliament, representing Wolverhampton South West. During his tenure, he held key roles such as Private Parliamentary Secretary to David Willetts and served on the Prime Minister's policy board under David Cameron from 2013 to 2015.
From 2017 to 2019, Paul Uppal notably served as the UK's inaugural Small Business Commissioner. In this capacity, he assisted more than 2,500 entrepreneurs, facilitating the recovery of over £6.5 million in outstanding invoices and directly aiding over 300 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). His focus remains on leveraging this extensive experience to foster the growth of Britain's 6 million small businesses.
Aside from his official roles, Paul Uppal actively volunteers as a Business Adviser for Young Enterprise. Through this role, he imparts his knowledge and serves as a mentor to aspiring young entrepreneurs. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Politics, where he achieved a 2:1 classification from the University of Warwick.
