Paul Schanda
Research group leader and professor at IST Austria
Paul Schanda is a renowned figure in the field of structural biology, with a primary focus on understanding how dynamic processes in proteins influence their functions.
He has a solid educational background, having studied Chemistry at the University of Vienna.
Currently, Paul is a Professor and leads a research group specializing in NMR spectroscopy and integrated structural biology at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria.
His prior experiences include being a Research group leader in biomolecular solid-state NMR at Institute de Biologie Structurale, a Post-Doc at ETH Zurich, and pursuing PhD studies at Weizmann Institute of Science and Université Joseph Fourier, IBS, Grenoble.
Before his extensive academic career, Paul Schanda worked in Analytical Chemistry and Quality Control at Fluka Sigma Aldrich and in R&D in Analytical Chemistry at Sandoz.
His interests revolve around the dynamic behavior of proteins, particularly membrane proteins and chaperones, and he continually works on improving methodologies, such as solid-state NMR, to study protein motion.
