Throughout his career, Paul has held significant roles in various organizations such as the U.S. Department of State, acting as a Foreign Service Officer, and within the United States Air Force in roles including Federal Coordinator for Meteorological Services, Division Chief, Weather Policy and Exploitation, Director of Weather at Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), Commander of multiple Weather Squadrons, and many more.

He has also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina - Asheville and North Carolina State University while holding positions such as Chief of Climatology Modeling and Development Branch, Program Manager for Automated Message Handling System, and Officer-in-Charge of Combat Weather Team.
