    Corporate Medical Adviser - Independent Chief Medical Adviser to ITV & Compass Group

    Paul Litchfield has dedicated over forty years to enhancing the health and wellbeing of individuals in the workplace, advocating for a holistic approach that considers the needs of employees, employers, and society at large.

    During his tenure at BT Group plc, Paul spearheaded the development of a comprehensive health, safety, and wellbeing framework that significantly benefited both the employees and the business, setting a benchmark for others to follow.

    Paul's commitment to wellbeing led to the founding of the UK What Works Centre for Wellbeing, where he served as the inaugural Chair from 2015 to 2021, aimed at consolidating scientific evidence on wellbeing for decision-makers in government, business, and civil society.

    Beyond his corporate endeavors, Paul has collaborated with commercial clients such as ITV and Compass Group to establish mental health services for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enhance duty of care protocols in TV production, and address the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    An esteemed author and lecturer, Paul has shared his expertise on mental health, wellbeing, sickness absence, hazard control, and occupational health ethics extensively. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was honored with an OBE by the UK Government in 2007 and a CBE in 2018.

    Paul's educational journey includes a Master of Science (MSc) in Occupational Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a MB ChB in Medicine from Manchester University, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Medical Sciences from the University of St. Andrews.

    Throughout his career, Paul has held key roles such as Chief Medical Officer at BT Group plc, Clinical Development Director at BMI Health Services, Director of Medical Services at the Civil Service Occupational Health Service within the Cabinet Office, and various positions in the Royal Navy.
