Paul Lewis

Paul Lewis is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Great Southern Bank, one of Australia's largest customer-owned banks. He has held this position since November 1, 2019, and also serves as a Director on the bank's Board. Prior to becoming CEO, he joined Great Southern Bank (formerly known as Credit Union Australia or CUA) in February 2018 as the Chief Sales Officer, where he was responsible for leading various sales channels including branches and call centers, as well as overseeing strategic projects across the retail network.13

Professional Background

Paul Lewis has over 20 years of experience in leadership roles within the banking sector, having worked in Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia. Before his tenure at Great Southern Bank, he was the Senior Head of Strategy and Transformation at Westpac, where he led the planning and delivery of the bank’s distribution strategy. His previous roles also include significant positions at ANZ, where he served as General Manager of the Australian Retail Branch Network and Managing Director of Retail Banking at AmBank in Malaysia.24

Education and Qualifications

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Massey University in New Zealand. He has also completed the Senior Executive Management Program at the London Business School.13

Community Engagement

In addition to his executive roles, Paul is actively involved in various organizations. He is the Chairman of Credicorp Finance Pty Ltd and a Director of both Credicorp Insurance Pty Ltd and CUA Management Pty Ltd. He also serves on the Board of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals Ltd.15

Personal Interests

Outside of his professional commitments, Paul enjoys competing in ultra-marathon races and values spending time with his family, including his wife and three teenage daughters.1
