Paul Cubbon

Paul Cubbon is a passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced marketing and innovation professional with a strong focus on early stage scientific translation, funding, and commercialization.
As the Assistant Dean of Innovation at UBC's Sauder School of Business from July 2019 to June 2024, Paul facilitated collaboration across campus to accelerate and increase the volume of scalable ventures.
He played a pivotal role as the Leader of Creative Destruction Lab Vancouver (CDL-V) from its inception in September 2016 until December 2022, contributing to the development of massively scalable, high-impact, science-based ventures. Additionally, he served as a session moderator at CDL from January 2017 to May 2024.
Paul Cubbon is also an esteemed educator and trainer with a track record of receiving strong evaluations from both students and clients. His accolades include the 2011 'Talking Stick' for Pedagogical Innovation and Sustained Teaching Excellence, the 2013 Graduate Teaching Award, the 2016 Killam Undergraduate Teaching Award, and the prestigious recognition as a 3M Canada National Teaching Fellow in 2020, highlighting his excellence in pedagogical innovation, teaching practice, and educational leadership.
His educational background includes a B.A. (Hons) in Geography from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Simon Fraser University. He completed his high school education at Manchester Grammar School.
Paul Cubbon has held various roles in different organizations, including Teaching Faculty at UBC's Sauder School of Business, Consultant at Three Ideas Consulting, Moderator and Site Lead at Creative Destruction Lab Vancouver, Sessional Instructor at UBC and Simon Fraser University, Instructor at Capilano College, Marketing Director at a Private Company, and positions in marketing and account management at Unilever and JWT.
