I'm not saying that @pmarca did not have these meetings, but...

With @levie, @JohnTChambers, @johndoerr, and others we met with bipartisan House and Senate leadership this year. @SpeakerPelosi, @RepJeffries, @SteveScalise, and numerous others from both sides of the aisle all unequivocally said they could not and would not slow the advancement of AI, to do so would be un-American, and not in our national interest.

I separately testified to the House commission on Artificial Intelligence [the report that came out yesterday] and the same tone couldn't have been more clear. I then met virtually every member of the committee 1:1 who said the same.

I met with the WH office of Science and Technology Policy numerous times this year, all while there was the debate for a "strategic pause" in AI advancement to allow regulation to catch up -- every time, the WH said any sort of pause was ludicrous, impractical, and would simply allow China to run away with it. This is the group that would actually be tasked with drafting whatever draconian policy has been suggested.

Yes, Marc probably had this meeting and the other one about "regulating math," but we all know the government is massive, deliberative, and chaotic and the most likely outcome in all scenarios is that they do nothing. One meeting and one overzealous official or agency does not make a policy future. In a consensus-driven government, I can assure you all that the overwhelming consensus from our elected representatives in DC is that it's party on garth when it comes to AI.

My position is "great, but let's not create a fraud paradise."
