Patrick Dougherty was a school counselor at Chappaqua Central School District who tragically passed away from heart failure on May 19, 2019, at the age of 50.2 He worked at Horace Greeley High School for 15 years and was highly regarded in his role.4
As a school counselor, Dougherty had extensive experience in primary and secondary education, specializing in K-12 education.3 He was known for his compassionate nature, always striving to see the best in others and ready to lend a helping hand. Dougherty was also recognized for his socially conscious beliefs and found peace and happiness in nature.1
In honor of his memory and the impact he had on students, the Patrick Dougherty Scholarship Award was established. This award is given to a student who embodies the qualities Dougherty exemplified, including compassion, social consciousness, and a willingness to help others.1
