Provide support to the Director of Pension and Investments in carrying out his accountabilities of overseeing the investment and risk management of Bruce Power’s defined benefit pension plan in accordance with applicable legislation, policies and procedures;
Provide advice, guidance and assistance to the Director of Pension and Investments in carrying out their daily responsibilities by exercising professional and independent financial judgment;
Assist with the pension plan’s performance monitoring process, including the monitoring of the pension plan’s external fund managers and service providers;
Provide advice, guidance and contribute to internal and external reporting requirements of the pension fund to stakeholders;
Conduct detailed analysis of the pension plan’s financial and operational results and assist senior management in the interpretation of those results;
Stay informed on current investment research, new products and asset classes and assist the Director of Pension and Investment with the development of recommended changes to the pension fund’s asset mix.

Secondment working with the Director of Pension and Investments

Trading in the Real Time, Day Ahead and Short Term markets as part of Geographic Diversification Initiative with PJM, Ontario, MISO, and NYISO;
Lead the training and certification of staff in scheduling, trading and analysis of new power markets; 
Work with the Geographic Diversification Initiative team to develop new trading strategies and help optimize regional diversification;
Participate in the development and evolution of analytics tools for proprietary trading and diversification strategies.

Senior Financial Trader

As the first hire at Aquilon Power Corp. I was taught the basics of physical electricity trading while helping to build and develop the tools and risk measurements systems used in day to day trading activities;
When trading first started in September of 2006, I was active in the analysis and trading of Real Time physical electricity in the power pools in the North East; 
After several very successful months of trading in the Real Time markets, I started to learn about the Day Ahead markets which I continue trade on a regular basis to this day;
For the past year and a half, my focus has been the short term OTC swap markets for all the North Eastern trading hubs with some time spent on the analysis of longer term products as well as FTR’s;
I have been and continue to be familiar with, and involved in, all trading activities at Aquilon Power Corp.; I have a complete understanding of the risks and rewards related to the trading of physical power in both the OTC swap market as well as the flowing of electricity between various counterparties.

Develop and maintain borrower relationships;
Determine competitive rates that will ensure maximized loan penetration and return;
Stay abreast of current events and short seller’s demands that might impact trading activity;
Produce monthly commentary on relevant market news that affected securities lending revenues; 
Network with the street to stay on top of relevant information;
Understand market practices with regard to legal agreements as well as common street etiquette;
Be aware of types of acceptable collateral and remain informed on borrower collateral costs and needs;
Ensure loaned securities, when sold, are returned in order to avoid costly failed deliveries, taking appropriate actions to facilitate timely settlement.
