Patrick Culligan

Dr. Pat Culligan, MD, FACOG, FACS, is the Director of Urogynecology at the Center for Female Pelvic Health at Weill Cornell Medical Center, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders and urogynecologic conditions.

Dr. Culligan's expertise includes urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, urinary tract infections, urinary urgency, fistulas, complications of vaginal mesh, labial hypertrophy, and complex gynecologic conditions. He emphasizes patient education and personalized treatment paths, offering both surgical and non-surgical options.

Apart from his clinical work, Dr. Culligan is the founder of Origami Surgical, a company producing StitchKit®, a sterile, single-use canister for soft tissue approximation in various surgeries. His invention aims to enhance safety, surgeon autonomy, and efficiency in suture-intensive robotic surgeries.

Before his current role, Dr. Culligan established the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at The Atlantic Health System, where he developed a fellowship program, authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and gained expertise in robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery. He is renowned for his teaching on these techniques.

Dr. Culligan's educational background includes studying at Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine, specializing in Gynecology at the University of South Carolina, earning a Doctor of Medicine in Medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Management and Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and completing his high school education at Marist High School.

He has been affiliated with various prestigious organizations, including being the Co-Director of Urogynecology at Valley Health System, serving as a Professor of Urology and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine, acting as the Director of Urogynecology - Center for Female Pelvic Health at Weill Cornell Medicine, and holding roles at Origami Surgical, Pelvic Floor Education, LLC, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Atlantic Health System, and University of Louisville Physicians.
