Oscar Williams was a film actor, screenwriter and film director born in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. He was known for directing films such as Death Drug (1978), Hot Potato (1976), Five on the Black Hand Side (1973), and The Final Comedown (1972) which he also wrote the screenplay for.13
Williams wrote the screenplays for other notable films like Truck Turner (1974) and Black Belt Jones (1974).1 While at the American Film Institute, he wrote, produced, and directed his first feature film The Final Comedown starring Billy Dee Williams.2
Oscar Williams passed away on January 30, 2023 in Qatar, where his son David lives. After his death, a group of speakers paid tribute to Williams at a Red Carpet Memorial Tribute at Caribbean Cinemas in St. Thomas.1
