Oleg Gusev
Senior Associate Professor at Graduate School of Medicine, Juntendo University
Oleg Gusev is a prominent figure in the field of genomics, currently serving as the Director of the Regulatory Genomics Research Center (ReGen) at Kazan Federal University. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Bioregulation from Okayama University, Japan, which he obtained in 2007.23
Gusev's research focuses on various aspects of genomics, particularly invertebrate genomics and gene regulation. He has been involved in significant projects that utilize CAGE (Cap Analysis of Gene Expression) technology to explore gene expression and regulation in unique environments, including space biology and desiccation resistance in organisms.14 His work aims to uncover how specific regulatory elements in genomes respond to extreme conditions, which can have implications for understanding biological processes in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial contexts.17
In addition to his role at Kazan Federal University, Gusev has held positions at Juntendo University in Japan, where he has contributed to the field of regulatory transcriptomics and medical genetic diagnostics.56 His expertise and leadership in genomics research are recognized internationally, making him a key contributor to advancements in the understanding of gene regulation and expression.
