Nikoo Hazaveh is a renowned structural and earthquake engineer who has designed and assessed various structures including concrete structures with moment frame and shear wall systems and steel structures with brace. With an extensive background in low-damage structures, she has experience with a range of dissipation devices such as viscous dampers, asymmetric friction connections (AFC), friction dampers, MR dampers, HF2V, and base isolation.

Hazaveh received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural and Earthquake Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology at Tehran. She later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Earthquake Engineering from the University of Canterbury, where she introduced, designed, manufactured and tested a passive smart viscous damper that mitigates seismic response of structures. Her shake table tests of a half scale steel low-damage steel building with AFC and different dissipation devices, including viscous damper, D3 viscous damper, and Grib & Grab, demonstrate her dedication to reducing the impact of earthquakes on structures.

Hazaveh is a published author of several conference and journal papers, reviewed by the ASCE’s Journal of Engineering Mechanics. Her expertise and interests draw the attention of many prestigious conferences and organizations worldwide, and she has presented her work in countries such as Iran, Chile, China, Turkey, the USA, New Zealand, and Spain. She is currently a Structural Engineer at Beca, having previously worked at Dunning Thornton Consultants, WSP Opus, Miyamoto International New Zealand, The University of Auckland, University of Canterbury, STRONG HOLD IRAN, and Yekta azma company.
