    Nicolas Brault, born in 1975 in Montreal, is a filmmaker and animation director with a Master's degree in Film Studies from the Université de Montréal.

    Currently serving as an assistant professor at the École de design of Université Laval, Nicolas has a rich history of acclaimed projects in the field of animation and film.

    His career highlights include winning the Cinéaste recherché(e) competition by the National Film Board of Canada in 2000, leading to the creation of the award-winning film 'Antagonia' in 2002, recognized at CINANIMA in Portugal.

    Exploring diverse cultures, Nicolas delved into Inuit culture with the short film 'Îlot' in 2003 and African oral traditions with 'Hungu' in 2008.

    His work 'Le cirque' in 2011, a poignant reflection on family memories tied to his mother's passing, earned a nomination for Best Animated Film at the 37th César Awards.

    Transitioning to independent artistry in 2012, he has focused on creating a series of non-narrative short films and immersive projections centered around the human body.

    Among these projects, 'Corps étrangers' in 2013 received the prestigious Off-Limits award at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, while 'Squame' in 2015 garnered multiple awards including Best Experimental Film at the MONSTRA festival in 2017.

    His installations have been showcased in galleries in Brazil, France, and Quebec, further solidifying his impact on the international animation scene.

    Currently collaborating with the National Film Board of Canada on a brain-computer interface project, Nicolas is at the forefront of innovative storytelling techniques where users can interact using mental commands with a kinetic sculpture.
