Nicola Teffer
Research Coordinator at Powerhouse
Nicola Teffer is a seasoned curator, editor, writer, and researcher in the museum and gallery sector. With over 20 years of experience, she has worked with some of Sydney's top cultural institutions, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. A graduate of the University of Western Sydney and the University of Technology, Sydney with a BA in Visual Arts and a PhD in Art History, respectively, Nicola possesses exceptional research, writing, and editing skills, as well as a strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and audiences.
Nicola has a deep knowledge of curatorial processes and procedures and has built up specialist expertise in the areas of art and social history through her work in visual culture. She has also gained experience in the interactive entertainment sector, where she has been involved in education and program management. As a Nancy Keesing Fellow at the State Library of NSW, she developed a strong culture of lifelong learning, sparking her passion for expanding audience engagement with our shared material history and collections through new technologies and digital platforms.
Nicola is currently interested in applying her skills to deepen and extend museums' and galleries' engagement with audiences using digital tools and platforms. Her impeccable attention to detail and excellent project management abilities position her to be a valuable asset to any team or institution.
