Nicola Carpentieri
Assistant Professor, Chair: Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Connecticut
Nicola Carpentieri is an accomplished scholar specializing in classical Arabic literature, with a particular focus on Sicily and the Iberian peninsula as well as the history of medicine.
He completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Near and Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University in 2012.
Nicola has a diverse educational background, including a Master's degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University, a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Literature, Persian Language and Literature from Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and further studies in Levantine Arabic and Islamic Art and Architecture.
He has held prestigious positions such as a Research Associate at the University of Manchester working on the 'Arabic Commentaries on the Hippocratic Aphorisms' Project.
Nicola Carpentieri was awarded the Beatriu de Pinos Fellowship at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, where he conducted research for his book project on Arabic Literature in Muslim and Norman Sicily.
Currently, Nicola serves as an Assistant Professor and Chair of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Connecticut.
