Nicholas Klassen is a seasoned professional with 20 years of experience in the cultural and public sector, specializing in producing and consulting on new media projects.
Currently, Nicholas is actively involved in designing and executing innovative programs for Creative BC to support the Interactive and Digital Media sector.
During his tenure as a creative producer in the National Film Board's Animation and Interactive Studio, Nicholas collaborated with artists to develop cutting-edge digital storytelling projects that redefined boundaries in terms of story, form, and platform.
His projects have garnered prestigious accolades from renowned institutions such as the Webbys, FWA, Awwwards, Communication Arts, World Press Photo, and Columbia University's Digital Dozen Breakthroughs in Storytelling.
As a founding partner of Biro Creative, an online creative firm, Nicholas provided strategic counsel to prominent global organizations dedicated to sustainability and social change, including clients like Greenpeace, Clinton Foundation, WWF, Points of Light Institute, Global Zero, Avaaz, and 350.org. Biro Creative was later acquired by Maddock Douglas in 2010, a Chicago-based innovation agency.
Nicholas Klassen pursued his education with a Master of Arts in History from the University of Toronto, supplemented by a stint as a visiting student at Goshen College. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from The University of British Columbia.
His professional journey includes roles such as Program Consultant at Creative BC, Producer and Digital Co-Creator at the National Film Board of Canada, Freelance Writer, Founding Partner at Biro Creative, Senior Editor at Adbusters Media Foundation, Research Analyst at Macaulay McColl LLP Barristers and Solicitors, and Policy Officer at Jesuit Refugee Service / Mennonite Central Committee (Zambia).
