Dr. Turkewitz is a highly experienced Neurohospitalist with expertise in Stroke, Status Epilepticus, Critical Care Neurology, AIDS Neurology, and Neuroinfectious Disease.
He is deeply passionate about medicine and values humanism, colleagues, and compassionate care for patients and their families.
With over 33 years of experience as a clinical Neutologist, Dr. Turkewitz has a strong background in teaching, publications, and receiving teaching awards.
He was a pioneer in developing the concept of Neurohospitalists and served as the director of the Stroke Program at Charity Hospital in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Turkewitz holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Boston University and completed his Neurology Residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.
He also underwent an Internship in Internal Medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City and has been a Board Examiner in Neurology and Electrodiagnosis.
Throughout his career, Dr. Turkewitz has held various positions at reputable organizations such as St. Thomas Midtown, Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Baptist Hospital Nashville, and Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He has also been associated with academic institutions like Medical University of the Americas and has worked in private practice settings.
