With a Master of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Regina and a Bachelor's degree in History and Politics from Queen's University, Neil Yeates has a strong academic foundation.

His career highlights include serving as the Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration for the Government of Canada from 2009 to 2013, where he played a pivotal role in shaping immigration policies and procedures.

Prior to his role at Citizenship and Immigration, Neil Yeates held several other significant positions within the federal government, such as Associate Deputy Minister at Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Assistant Deputy Minister at Health Canada's Health Products and Food Branch, and Assistant Deputy Minister at Industry Canada's Industry Sector.

Before his tenure at the federal level, Neil Yeates dedicated over two decades to the Government of Saskatchewan, where he held key roles including Deputy Minister of Education, Corrections & Public Safety, Post-Secondary Education, Assistant Deputy Minister in Social Services, and Assistant Deputy Minister in Health.
