Neil Ferguson is a renowned figure in the field of epidemiology, with a strong background in theoretical physics. He pursued his education at the University of Oxford, where he obtained a DPhil in Theoretical Physics and an MA in Physics. With a diverse academic foundation, he has made significant contributions to the scientific community. Currently, Neil holds the prestigious position of Director at the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit for Modelling Methodology at Imperial College London. Prior to this role, he served as the Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Director of the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling, also at Imperial College London.
