Natasja Nielsen: Co-founder and Former CTO of Secureframe

Natasja Nielsen is the co-founder and former CTO of Secureframe, a platform that simplifies security compliance for businesses. She is a University of Michigan alum who initially studied Chemical Engineering before switching to Computer Science Engineering after taking an intro CS class and becoming "obsessed with the fact that with software, you could build a product from anywhere, with anyone, with just a laptop and an internet connection."1

During college, Natasja was involved in various entrepreneurial organizations like MPowered and Michigan Hackers, where she ran events and hackathons. After graduating, she joined Amazon as a software engineer to learn from their "world-renowned customer obsession."1

In 2020, Natasja co-founded Secureframe with Shrav Mehta to automate security compliance and help businesses complete audits. The company recently raised an $18 million Series A funding round led by Kleiner Perkins, with participation from Gradient Ventures and Base10 Partners.12

As a woman in tech, Natasja has noticed significant progress in diversity and inclusion in Silicon Valley over the past five years. She advises current students to "start small and get your ideas out into the world early" using no-code tools, even if they lack experience in the space.1
