Natalie Hwang

Natalie Hwang is the Founding Managing Partner of Apeira Capital, a growth equity and tactical opportunities fund focusing on disruptive distribution technology.

She has been recognized in the Power List 100 by Global Corporate Venturing for three consecutive years (2017-2019) for her innovative venture strategy that combines her expertise in distribution technology and private markets.

Before Apeira Capital, Natalie led Simon Ventures as the sole Managing Director, overseeing all investment aspects. She has held board positions in notable companies like Foursquare and FabFitFun and supported the growth of various successful ventures including Bird, Bustle Digital Group, and Grailed.

With earlier experience at The Blackstone Group, Natalie gained insights into scaling disruptive hedge fund startups, enhancing her investment acumen.

As one of the few female executives heading a fund with a comprehensive background in private to public markets, Natalie brings a unique viewpoint to venture capital opportunities.

She has been featured as an industry expert in prominent media outlets like Bloomberg, Fast Company, and WWD, providing valuable insights on topics ranging from real estate tech and retail innovation to venture capital investing.

Natalie's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Public Policy, and Philosophy from Duke University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence in Law from the University Of Virginia School Of Law, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tufts University.

Natalie has also studied Psychology at Royal Holloway, University Of London. Her diverse educational background reflects her interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving in the business world.

Besides her venture capital career, Natalie has been involved in various psychology and community-related roles. She was a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at Pgsp-Stanford Psyd Consortium and a Community Residence Counselor at Mclean Hospital.

She also served as a Community Advisory Board Member at Kaiser Permanente, a Student Counselor for Tufts Ears For Peers, and a Health Educator at Peer Health Exchange, showcasing her commitment to mental health and well-being initiatives.

Natalie's early career includes research internships at Kaiser Permanente and The National Institutes Of Health, along with roles as a Music Director, House Manager, Counselor, and Inclusion Facilitator at various organizations.
