Research Assistant at Yale Emotional Intelligence Center

I managed the creation of a website for marketing Professor Thales Teixeira. I hired and worked with a developer on conception, design, features and execution. I also helped with a long-term advertising project, the purpose of which was to facilitate creating automatic, algorithmic video advertisements. I created a survey for participants to rate video clips on certain characteristics (funny, joyful, heart-warming, eye-raising, surprising, shocking). I disseminated the survey and analyzed the results, which facilitated the next step in the project. A correlation analysis showed that several of these characteristics are similar enough to be collapsed, making future studies shorter.

Research Assistant

How do we learn? When we learn a new fact counter to what we thought before, do we update accordingly, or does the wrong belief linger? I investigated these questions with graduate student Jack Cao in Mahzarin Banaji's research lab. I used digital research methods, including the Implicit Association Test, R, HTML and MTurk surveys to collect and analyze data. I helped with all stages of the research process, including experimental design, data collection, data analysis, literature review, and manuscript organization and editing.

I was the Teaching Assistant and Peer Tutor for Professor David Gelernter at Yale's Computer Science Department. I made teaching materials and completed administrative tasks. I worked closely with students to improve their writing style and write coherent arguments in their work. I made presentations and workshops for a writing class focused on issues in artificial intelligence, and a graphical user interface class.

Media Tech at Yale University Student Tech Collaborative

I worked with a Yale School of Management based startup team to market a novel antacid (Tummyzen) developed at Yale University. I created and edited written materials, including brochure text and text for online marketplaces. I recruited several freelancers to create promotional art, and coordinated the completion of several promotional brochures and photograph spreads. I also attended events to pitch the product and researched potential marketplaces to sell the product.
