Naomi Nickerson
VP of Quantum Architecture at PsiQuantum
Naomi Nickerson is the Vice President of Quantum Architecture at PsiQuantum, a startup based in Palo Alto that focuses on developing a fault-tolerant silicon-photonic quantum computer. She has been in this role since December 2016, where she leads the development of quantum error correction techniques crucial for photonic quantum computing.14
Nickerson earned her PhD in quantum error correction from a collaboration between Imperial College London and Oxford University. Following her academic pursuits, she worked as a software engineer in San Francisco before joining PsiQuantum. Her research interests encompass quantum error correction, ultra-fast decoding algorithms, and networked photonic technologies, contributing significantly to PsiQuantum's approach to fusion-based quantum computing.13
In her current position, she has been involved in significant breakthroughs, such as the development of "active volume compilation," which aims to improve the efficiency of fault-tolerant quantum computations by optimizing the use of available hardware.23
