Muhammad Mukhtar

Muhammad Mukhtar is a highly experienced professional currently serving as the Director and Senior Vector Control Specialist at the Directorate of Malaria Control in Pakistan. His expertise lies in providing technical assistance for the control of vectors of public health significance such as malaria, dengue, and leishmaniasis.

With a background in coordinating malaria and water-related health projects at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Pakistan, Muhammad has extensive experience in investigating the connection between irrigation development and malaria transmission.

Muhammad excels in designing national strategic plans, policy documents, and guidelines for public health vector control. He has developed various national guidelines for malaria and dengue vector control, as well as distribution strategies for key interventions.

His skill set includes programmatic and financial analysis for malaria control interventions, gap assessments, and needs analyses. He has led initiatives such as the development of surveillance systems for malaria vectors and quality assurance protocols for insecticide residual spraying (IRS) operations in Pakistan.

Muhammad Mukhtar pursued his education in Agric. Entomology, culminating in an M.Phil degree, and is currently a Ph.D candidate at the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad. He also received his early education at Tameer-e-Millat High School.
