Meet Elizabeth Abend, a dynamic HR professional with vast experience in retail management, financial services, and food manufacturing. Elizabeth started her career in retail management with Borders, where she learned many roles including merchandising, sales, inventory, operations, and human resources. She discovered her knack for training, and 100% of the cashiers trained by Elizabeth were promoted within the organization.

After retail, Elizabeth took on her first dedicated human resources role with Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. She coordinated the Workday Implementation Project where she developed and facilitated training for the 20-person payroll department prior to “go live”. She has joined or helped organizations through major changes and has been known as the “Fix-it Kid".

With her strong recruiting and onboarding skills, Elizabeth has seen over 50% reduction in employee turnover and increases in employee satisfaction. Her notable accomplishments include fiscal thriftiness that has saved organizations over $250K. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has focused on development and training, including in-depth leadership training.

Elizabeth earned her Master of Professional Studies in Organizational Development & Change from Pennsylvania State University, and has current HR certifications through HRCI and SHRM. She is the HR Manager at Fhitting Room and her past work experiences include Epi Breads, Earthbound Trading Company, CFCU Community Credit Union, and Borders Group Inc.
