Scientific Software Engineer | Data Scientist

Developing software (mainly C++) for statistical data analysis of measurements of the ALICE detector at CERN. Working with large data sets (~ Petabyte), using a distributed grid. Maintaining source code (~ 50,000 lines) using version control (Git). Numerically optimizing parameters of 19-dimensional fit functions. Taking detector shifts at the ALICE control room at CERN, being responsible for the operations of the detector. Supervising tutorial sessions for bachelor and master courses at Utrecht University. Substitute lecturer. Co-supervision of six bachelor research projects, and one master research project.

PhD Candidate in Particle Physics

Supervised tutorial sessions for five different undergraduate physics courses. Corrected homework and exams. Courses: Special Relativity, Electrodynamics 2, Quantum Mechanics 2, Classical Mechanics 1, Classical Mechanics 2.

Teaching Assistant

Bass player and co-founder of the band Roosbeef. Recorded two short CDs. Performed in most large pop stages in the Netherlands, and on numerous music festivals in the Netherlands as well as on one in New York. Rehearsed once or twice per week. Number of performances: around 20 per year.
