    Ming-Chih Kao is the Clinic Chief and Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University. He is a computational biologist/statistician and physician with interests in software algorithms and healthcare policy.     Dr. Kao is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as pain management. He is also a Certified Interventional Pain Sonographer (CIPS) and a Fellow in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP).2

    Throughout his career, Dr. Kao has authored more than 30 scientific journal articles covering a wide range of topics including genetics, genomics, proteomics, artificial intelligence, oncology, epidemiology, rehabilitation, and pain. His mission is to provide comprehensive interdisciplinary pain care to his patients, utilizing the latest advancements in Pain Medicine. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kao is involved in teaching physicians and trainees about complex pain diagnosis, interventional procedure techniques, and scientific methods in pain studies.3

    Dr. Kao has held various positions at Stanford University, including Assistant Professor (since September 2013), Associate Division Chief of Operations (October 2015 - December 2017), and his current role as Clinic Chief (since December 2017).1
