Dr. Mikolaj Firlej is an Assistant Professor at the Surrey Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence, part of the University of Surrey. Firlej holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford, where his thesis addressed regulatory standards for AI-augmented and autonomous weapon systems used by the US Air Force. He also completed a Master of Public Policy at the Oxford School of Government and has a background in socio-legal studies and philosophy from both Oxford and the University of Warsaw.13 Prior to his current role, he contributed to establishing the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs at Oxford.1
