Mikey Mohan
Environmentalist - Applying Concepts for making a Difference!
Mikey Mohan is a dedicated environmentalist, currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Geography - Earth System Science at UC Berkeley. He is a researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) and a Science Lead at the United Nations Volunteering Program.
Mikey's research focuses on utilizing remote sensing technologies like UAVs, LiDAR, and Optical, along with machine learning techniques, to evaluate tropical rainforest regeneration in Latin America in response to climate change. He collaborates with various organizations like NASA, USDA, UN, and WWF on biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and carbon modeling.
Apart from his academic endeavors, Mikey is a guest editor for the Remote Sensing and Drones journal, where he encourages submissions related to Individual Tree Detection and the application of remote sensing techniques in understanding forests' response to climate change.
Mikey Mohan is also passionate about community engagement, public service, policy-making, environmental awareness, volunteering, and activism. He is an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast who has visited over 30 countries and loves mentoring and working in diverse environments.
