Mike Nikou

Mike Nikou is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Asia Pacific at BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM), a position he has held since September 15, 2022. In this role, he is also responsible for the firm's distribution activities across the region. Nikou succeeded Steven Billiet, who transitioned to a global role within the firm. He operates primarily from Singapore and will eventually relocate to Hong Kong, reporting regionally to Paul Yang, Head of BNP Paribas Asia Pacific.13

Career Background: Nikou brings over 30 years of experience in the financial services and asset management industry, with more than 20 years spent in senior roles at Fidelity International. His career at Fidelity involved developing business strategies for both retail and institutional segments across various regions, including Asia Pacific. Before joining BNPP AM, he was a Global Partner at Antler, a venture capital firm based in Singapore that focuses on early-stage technology companies.12

Strategic Focus: As CEO, Nikou aims to enhance BNPP AM's leadership in sustainable investing while expanding its presence in key markets like China. He emphasizes building a diversified business model by strengthening wholesale distribution and customizing investment solutions for clients. Under his leadership, the firm continues to hire talent despite challenging market conditions, focusing on both institutional and wholesale segments.23

Educational Background: Nikou holds a Diploma from the Institute of Insurance (IFU) in Sweden, which is affiliated with the Stockholm School of Economics, as well as a Diploma in Business Marketing/Economics from the Frans Shartaus Business Institute in Sweden.1
