Mike Brown

Mike Brown, a retired Senior Special Agent of the United States Treasury Department, has spent a lifetime in the service of his country. After serving in the US Army and as a Tactical Officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., Brown worked as a Staff Support Specialist with the Central Intelligence Agency. He went on to become a law enforcement instructor with the United States Department of Justice, teaching in Central and South America and the Caribbean. Brown's expertise in the field of criminal justice led to his election as Sheriff of Bedford County, Virginia. During his tenure, he testified before Congress on matters concerning Internet crimes against children, served on Virginia’s Task Force on Identity Theft, and was selected by then Attorney General Janet Reno to serve on the Crime Technology Initiative Forum, Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the White House. Sheriff Brown retired in 2019 after directing a national task force for the Department of Justice dealing with the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet. With extensive experience in federal and local law enforcement agencies, Brown continues to consult in criminal justice matters and investigations throughout the United States, Central America, and the Caribbean. He is currently Vice President of the National White Collar Crime Center.
