Mike Alpert is the owner and primary product developer of Cogent Solutions, a company he founded in 2019 to provide streamlined, private-sector solutions for public education. His work focuses on empowering educators to better support the next generation. Before founding Cogent, Mike gained corporate experience as a project analyst at Iberdrola Renewables and as a financial services specialist for Intel and Microsoft’s employee credit unions. He later transitioned into education, working as a teacher and administrator for over a decade, including roles in rural and suburban districts in the Portland metro area and internationally in Prague, Czech Republic. He is also a Crystal Apple Award-winning educator.
Mike holds a BA in English from Texas A&M University, an MBA from Portland State University (with a focus on finance and innovation management), and an MAT from George Fox University. He is a licensed teacher and administrator in Oregon. Beyond his work at Cogent Solutions, Mike is a founding board member of Ex Novo Brewing Co., the world’s first nonprofit brewery, and the creator of "The Curiosity Blueprint," a resource for educators.
