Michelle Prater
President & CEO of North Georgia Community Foundation
Michelle Prater is the President and CEO of the North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF), a position she has held since October 2015. An Ohio native, she moved to Georgia to pursue her education at the University of North Georgia, where she earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and management. She later obtained an MBA in Leadership Development from Brenau University.
Before joining NGCF, Prater had a successful career in banking and transitioned into the nonprofit sector to make a more significant impact. She worked in development roles at LDI Inc. and Map International, and served as the Senior Director of Volunteerism at United Way of Greater Atlanta. Under her leadership, NGCF's assets nearly tripled from $42 million to over $122 million, and the organization has become a key resource for nonprofit training in North Georgia.
In addition to her role at NGCF, Prater is actively involved in various boards and committees, including the UNG Mike Cottrell College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and the Georgia Forward Board of Directors. She has received recognition for her community service, including the 2021 Brenau University Community Service Award.
