Michelle Knoop

Michelle Knoop is a partner at Goodwin Procter LLP, where she is involved in the Technology and Life Sciences groups. Her legal practice focuses on corporate and securities laws, particularly in advising emerging-growth technology companies. She joined Goodwin in 2014 and has since taken on significant roles, including serving on the hiring committee for the Silicon Valley office and co-chairing the women's initiative there.12

Education and Early Career

Knoop earned her Juris Doctor (JD) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), both summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri in 2013. During her time in law school, she was the senior lead articles editor for the Missouri Law Review and received several academic honors. Before joining Goodwin, she clerked for the Honorable Carlos Bea at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.13

Knoop's work encompasses the entire lifecycle of corporate representation, including pre-incorporation planning, venture capital financings, public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. She has represented private companies and venture capital firms in transactions exceeding $6 billion. Notable clients include Accel Partners, Snap Inc., and Eventbrite, Inc..123

In addition to her corporate practice, Knoop is active in pro bono work, leading initiatives like Goodwin’s Neighborhood Business Initiative and contributing to resources for startups through Goodwin’s Founders Workbench.12
