Michelle Conceison

Michelle Conceison is an Associate Professor and the current Department Chair of the Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). She joined the faculty in 2018 and took over as chair recently, succeeding John Merchant, a Grammy-nominated professor who remains on the faculty.2

In addition to her academic role, Conceison is the CEO and founding manager of Mmgt, a company she established in 2004 that focuses on artist management and marketing, particularly in genres like folk, Americana, and bluegrass.12 She is also actively involved in the music industry as the Global Chair of the Mentorship Program for Women in Music, where she promotes professional development and support for women in the musical arts.12

Conceison's expertise encompasses various aspects of music business, including artist management, marketing, and strategic planning. Her leadership at MTSU has been noted for fostering an environment that prepares students for diverse careers in the music industry, leveraging the university's strong reputation in this field.23
