Michael Yamauchi, a Ph.D. holder in Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has over fifteen years of experience as a patent prosecutor and IP consultant specialized in life sciences. With a robust background in structure/function biochemistry, enzymology, and molecular biology, Michael has expertise in ATPases, DNA rearrangements, and DNA binding proteins that has helped in challenging patent prosecutions. During his time in specialized and general practice law firms, he co-founded a specialized life sciences practice that focuses on obtaining patents that can withstand litigation scrutiny. As Sr. Director, Patent Counsel at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Michael specializes in patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, litigation, IP counseling, drafting opinions, and licensing and negotiations. His philosophy towards patent prosecution is to maintain client's business objectives and establish and maintain integrity with clients and USPTO.
