Michael Tyka
PostDoctoral Fellow at University of Washington
Michael Tyka is a PostDoctoral Researcher in Computational Biophysics and Biochemistry, with a specialization in structure prediction and modeling of large biopolymers, especially proteins. He has a wealth of experience in using Rosetta, molecular dynamics, and free-energy calculations, along with a strong background in programming compute-intensive applications. Michael aims to transition structure prediction and modeling into practical tools for biochemical research beyond academic realms. Alongside his scientific pursuits, in 2009 he ventured into the world of sculpture and art, contributing to projects like Groovik's Cube and co-founding ALTSpace, an art studio in Seattle. He has a passion for creating sculptures inspired by protein folds, intending to showcase the beauty of molecules to a wider audience and spark interest in the fundamental components of life.
