Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas is the Executive Director of My Possibilities (MP), a nonprofit organization based in Plano, Texas, that focuses on supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). He has been with MP for over 14 years, during which he has played a pivotal role in expanding the organization's reach and impact within the community. Under his leadership, MP has grown to serve over 600 adults weekly through various educational, vocational, and therapeutic programs.12

Thomas has been recognized for his innovative approach to supporting individuals with disabilities. He successfully led a $30 million capital campaign to establish the My Possibilities Campus for Higher Learning, which includes extensive educational facilities and plans for additional resources such as dormitories and wellness centers.23 His academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas.2

As of December 31, 2023, Thomas will be stepping down from his role but plans to continue supporting disability organizations across the United States in a consultancy capacity.1 His contributions have significantly altered community perceptions about adults with IDD, fostering greater acceptance and inclusion.12
