Michael Stern is a seasoned chemical engineer with a strong background in sustainability, electrochemistry, and industrial processing. He is currently a Senior Managing Engineer at Exponent's Thermal Sciences Practice, specializing in process safety, product safety, failure analysis, and incident investigation.
Michael holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree (MSCEP) in Chemical Engineering Practice, both from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Additionally, he completed his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering at Lehigh University.
During his time at MIT, Michael focused on designing electrochemical carbon capture systems for clean energy solutions, demonstrating his expertise in cutting-edge technological innovations. His work at Exponent involves tackling some of the largest carbon capture systems globally, providing him with invaluable insights into the complexities and potential of such large-scale sustainability projects.
Prior to joining Exponent, Michael gained professional experience as an Engineering Consultant at General Mills and Mawana Sugars Ltd, where he honed his skills in the industrial and chemical processing domains. He also served as an Engineering Research Intern at Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, showcasing his commitment to expanding his knowledge and expertise in diverse fields of engineering.
