Michael Sobel

Michael Sobel, known as Mike, is the President and Co-Founder of Scenic Advisement, an investment bank specialized in the private market. With a background that includes working at BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, Mike brings deep expertise in resolving market inefficiencies across various asset classes. At BlackRock, he held key positions such as Global Head of Fixed Income Index and iShares, managing the largest fixed income beta business globally, and Head of Americas Equity Trading, overseeing trading activities in equities, equity derivatives, and commodities across different regulatory environments. Mike's skill set encompasses trading analytics, real-time trading systems, asset allocation, and market structure design. Prior to BlackRock, he served in roles like Derivatives Sales Trader and Japanese Equity Program Trader at Morgan Stanley. Mike has also provided senior advisory services to major exchanges like NYSE and Nasdaq, contributing as a member of committees such as NYSE ITAC and NASDAQ Quality of Markets. Apart from English, Mike is a fluent Japanese speaker. He completed his BS in Accounting at Binghamton University's School of Management and furthered his studies with a Semester Study Abroad in Japanese Studies at Kansai Gaidai University. Mike currently resides in Marin County with his wife and three children.
