Michael Pym

Michael Pym is a highly experienced IT lawyer with over 30 years of working in-house at international IT companies and major Australian law firms. In 2006, he established Gordian Lawyers, a law firm that specializes in IT law, outsourcing, commercial property, government procurement, and privacy, including GDPR compliance. Michael has led legal and contract management teams in global IT companies, including Oracle, Cognos, and Accenture, where he was the Asia Pacific Lead Lawyer for deals with a TCV of over USD 100m. He has also run large IT departments and other back-office functions such as property and facilities, contract management, procurement, travel, and business process re-engineering while serving as Director of Operations and Legal Services at Oracle. Michael's clients include start-ups, large local and international companies, universities, and government agencies. He advises on managed services and outsourcing contracts, procurement, consulting contracts, software-as-a-service agreements, distribution agreements, disputes, contract management, commercial property leases, Australian privacy laws, and GDPR. Michael has played an active role in helping the Australian Information Industry Association shape and implement policies that promote the ICT industry, culminating in being elected as a Director between 2012 and 2018 and as Deputy Chair of the AIIA National Board between 2016 and 2018.
